How to select multiple text in InDesign?

I have an InDesign file that is all text. There are dates, titles, and summaries. In Word, you can highlight a word and then hold down control to highlight an additional, different word in another place. How do you do that in InDesign? I need to change all the summary fonts but can't just select all of it because that would highlight the dates and titles too, and doing it one-by-one is annoying.
