What is wrong with my tv?

I have a viewsonic LCD tv. I took it out of the box, brand new, less than a month ago. Hooked it up. No prob. Have cable, and a dvd player connected to it. I was watching it last night, and everything was hunky dory. Now today, I go to turn it on, and the little blue light comes on. Then the little birdies show up. Then nothing. Nothing but vast blackness. The remote will not change channels, adjust volume, bring up the menu screen or the source screen, hell, it won't even turn off the tv. The controls on the side of the tv itself also do absolutely nothing. The power button on the tv won't turn it off. The only way it will turn off is to pull the plug out of it's sorry ***. If I leave it on for like ten minutes it has gray static, and shows the channel number. Then when I try to do anything it has a major delay. The viewsonic website is pointless and no help. The instruction manual says things like : "is it plugged in?" or "are there batteries in the remote?" Yes, I have used a tv before. Mainly, I am just bitching. Does anyone know anything about this? What can I do? I just want to watch the damn tv.
